Review of BB 10/z10. What is your take on it? Let us know!

And it’s happened once again!
Another inexplicable video and song going viral… The next Kolaveri di… The current rage among musicians, politicians, cricketers and the net-surfing crowd. Yes, “Oppan Gangnam Style”.
10 years back, when Park Jae-Sang (better known to the world as PSY) released his first album, PSY from the PSYcho World!, he was met with criticism and branded ‘The Bizarre Singer’. Who could have known that one day this man’s song, with over 590 milliom views on YouTube, will make its place in the Guiness World Records for being the most “liked” video in YouTube history.

The critical question running in many minds though, is not about PSY’s sheer brilliance, or his record-breaking abilities in the musical world. No. The big question is: WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR SOMETHING TO BECOME VIRAL THESE DAYS?? Or phrased another way, can just about ANYTHING become viral these days?
Is it the catchy music of Gangnam Style? Or the meaningful lyrics? Here’s a flash of the English translation:
I love a lady who is warm and compassionate by day,
A classy girl who know how to enjoy the freedom of a cup of coffee
A girl whose heart gets hotter when night comes
A girl with that kind of twist
What is it that has Google founder Eric Schmidt dancing to the tunes of this song? What made UN Secretary-General Ban-Ki-moon declare this song as a “force for world peace.” A few million net-surfers with a lot of free time on their hands- imaginable. World leaders and business icons doing the famous “invisible horse-trot” and you begin to wonder- what is the world coming to?

External Talks [ 3.30 pm, Silicon Valley]
“Do you have any idea Frank,” Maria grabbed her 4th glass of orange juice, “tomorrow we have to present our modified site to our chairman, and if he doesn’t like it, we will lose our job”
“Please, don’t be panic, nothing will happen. We know we have done a good job and the blueprint was already accepted by the chairman. I would rather say that the company which is designing and developing it, know this site better than us…”, said Frank
“Wait! What do they know? Tell me, what did they do? They are just just… Anyway, I don’t think they are good for anything. It is us who has done everything. We chose the layout, we chose the font, we wrote the copy, we gave them the images. They just coded it, which is their job? What is development? Just some lines of code and fixing bugs that’s it… We are the business development guys and you know who we are? We were the second rung students from the same school where the developers were the top rung students. And today we are the client. We instruct them and they do as we say… We are the boss, we are paying them.”
“Ahh… so you are getting proud?” Frank asked, surprised.
“Yes, why not?”
“See, Maria”, Frank put down the cigar, “I think you are exaggerating. We have to accept that these guys have contributed. They have done all the meeting before the project started, taking everyone in the loop who were involved directly with the project.”
“Its their duty, isn’t it?”
“Exactly. And we have our duties too. They have already conducted meetings, asked about our plan, set deadlines. But sometimes we have to understand them too. Where they are getting stuck, what’s their problem. Can you consider it? Its all about a healthy relationship not just business”
“Frank, we are a separate company. We just have to push them to meet the deadlines. That is our job. That is how we earn our money, right!!!”
“Yes, but professionals fail sometimes, and we are both professionals here. If we have any misunderstandings, we must clear them lest the project dies.”
“I am not getting you, seriously. I am sorry but what I think is that they have to make the project perfect because they are being paid for it. There are so many companies in the market which can do things in 30 minutes. Why do we have to pay those who do the same in 3 days?”
“Just because they know what we need. Anyway why are we fighting? The project is done from their side. We now just have to present it. I hope the chairman will like it.”
Let’s hope so!!!cheers.

[The room is filled with the essence of wine and cigar, the night has already passed. They are watch the first rays of light from the 31st floor of a 102 storey tower somewhere in Silicon valley. There is always a cold war between clients and agencies… Will that be the key to the evolution of something new… I think change wins everywhere]

the night dream [ 1.30 pm, delhi, 2012]
“Ohh! That is pretty cool, nice to know that you are a designer, that too, a Graphics Designer. What do you design? Can you design Tom and Jerry?
“No… “
Ohh! can you design a wooden sculpture?
“No… “
“Ohh! Not an issue. You must be into sketching?”
[Long Sigh] “No, I can’t. I told you I am a graphics designer.”
“Well, well. I think you are flooded on a weekly basis with deadlines, great designer talks, workshops, inspirational stories and self making pocket philosophy. Is it so? Do you ever think what design is? Is that what your clients think? What do you learn?”
“Sorry. I think you are getting me wrong.”
“Perhaps, but ask yourself, do you discuss with your client freely when you want to design something? Or even with your teammates?
“Yes, I do. But sometimes clients change everything midway. Where are the ethics of designing? ‘I don’t like green font over red background.’”
“What do you feel?”
“I get depressed. But is there any other option?”
“try to search for the answer” and Karel Štěch disappears.

So one fine day, our little office, hidden away in a cool quiet basement in South Delhi found itself ransacked by new faces, a couple of cameras, mikes, stands and the entire related paraphernalia of a shoot! Li’l MixORG was about to be famous worldwide! 24/7 Frames had discovered this little hidden treasure and wanted to make a documentary with us. It had discovered the age old secret: “Good things come in small packages.”
The team wanted to make a documentary of an ideological young man who wished to leverage his knowledge of technology to help rural India. Sachin was chosen as their ‘software hero’, and having received approval from their London office, the shooting crew landed at MixORG one bright March day and turned us budding social-media practitioners into actors! After checking ourselves out in front of the mirror and petting our hair into place, we all sat in front of the camera and the show began.
While we had to strive to forget the cameras and engage in a spontaneous brainstorm session over how we could come up with a Mobile App to benefit the farming community of India, it became slightly difficult after some time, when the shooting crew insisted that each of us repeated our dialogues 5-10 times over, while they took the shot from different angles!
Next up, the camera focused solely on Sachin, and he was asked to just keep nodding his head as if he were listening to the others speak. With none of the others in the frame, this was fun-time for the rest of us. After all, you could ask Sachin for anything right now, and he could do nothing but nod sagely with a serious expression! From free Pizzas to salary hikes, all pending demands were got approved in those few minutes.

However, tables turned immediately as each of the others was caught in the same position. The director wanted ‘nodding’ shots of each of us! Just keeping a straight face for the camera became a challenge for the person in spotlight.
In the middle of all this laughter, teasing and pulling-each-other’s-legs, the shooting crew managed to get a few decent shots. But by the end of it, they looked as amused as if they had just tried to capture a serious exchange between naughty, hyper-active 5-year olds!
As promised by Sachin (willingly or unwillingly), we all did get our free Pizzas. Work had paused for a day, it was true, but each one of us went home with the pride of knowing that MixORG was doing something impactful, and what’s better, we will all be screened on TV! We’re famous!
